Characteristics of fans
Fans are usually subjected to high inertia loads and have a long ramp up time during startup. If direct startup is used, the effect is not ideal.
Advantages of Odeli Soft Start Fans
The soft start time can be selected from 6 to 60 seconds, meeting the requirement of long fan start time.
The fan is started with load, and the load increases linearly during startup. The characteristic of soft start is that the starting torque increases linearly with the starting time. In this way, the starting characteristics of the soft starter match the starting requirements of the fan.
Starting the fan with a soft starter can reduce the starting current and minimize the impact on the power grid.
The use of soft starters in fans can also reduce mechanical impact and extend the lifespan of the fan.
Precautions before starting the soft starter
1. Check the insulation resistance of the motor. This work is carried out before the motor is connected to the soft starter, as the starting circuit is composed of controllable silicon components. When the motor is connected to the soft starter, using a high-voltage megohmmeter to measure the insulation resistance of the motor will damage the controllable silicon.
Check if the motor can rotate smoothly and smoothly with the loaded trolley, otherwise it will definitely not start.
2. Check the parameters of the fan, motor, and soft starter. The parameters to be checked include voltage, current, power, and the number of poles of the motor.
The debugging sequence is manual turning, airdrop control circuit, motor idling, and load operation.
Selection of starting method and time for soft starters: For general power soft starters, the larger the load, the longer the starting time should be; When the quality requirements for power supply in the power grid are relatively high, current limiting startup can be chosen. The larger the load, the longer the startup time should be.
Issues to be paid attention to during live debugging of soft start
The motor cannot start after the start signal is sent. There are various reasons for this situation, such as the main circuit and control circuit not being powered on; Control circuit wiring error; The motor has internal faults, etc.
After the start signal is sent, the motor slowly rotates and immediately stops, and the circuit protector acts. This situation may be due to motor blockage, which should be resolved before restarting.
After the start signal was sent, the motor began to start, but shortly after starting, a protection trip occurred. The reason for this malfunction is that the parameter adjustment of the motor thermal protection is too small; The number of motor poles does not match the design; Fan leakage, etc. The fault should be resolved before starting.
Soft start operation
Pay attention to overvoltage to avoid damaging the motor.
Avoid prolonged overload.
Pay attention to long-term under load. If there is a long-term under load, adjust the thermal protection parameters.
